Recording Patient’s Status as Deceased

The patient who is no longer alive should be marked as “Deceased” in the system. This effectively prevents that patient from displaying in Patient Search results.

To make a patient’s status as deceased:

1.Click the Patient Search icon to perform a patient search.
2.Click the Edit icon to edit patient details. The Patient Information tab is opened.
3.In the Patient Details section, select the “Deceased” check box.
4.Select the Deceased Date using the Calendar icon, or enter the date, month, or year in the text box provided.
5.Enter the details in the Reason/Comments field.
6.Click Save.

 Note: You can record the patient’s status as “deceased” only when there are no future appointments and no in-progress encounters.
